Dr. Jill Jäger is an independent scholar based in Vienna, Austria. She has a PhD in Geography (Climatology) from the University of Colorado, USA. In 1987 she became Project Leader at the Stockholm Environment Institute, Sweden, and in 1991 she became Director of the Climate Policy Division of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, Germany. She joined the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria, in 1994, where she was Deputy Director until 1998.  Dr. Jäger was Executive Director of the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP) from 1999 until 2002.  In addition to contributing numerous scientific publications in books and scientific journals, she has participated in a wide range of research projects focusing on integrated sustainability assessment, vulnerability to climate change, and sustainability science. Currently she is a task leader in the ENGAGE project focusing on stakeholder engagement in dialogues about decarbonisation at the national, regional and global levels. She is also developing a manual on scenario development and analysis with a focus on climate security issues and coordinating an assessment chapter on land use decisions and climatic change.
