On 20 May 2025, at the 91st meeting of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency, Louis Meuleman was elected as chair, after having served as vice chair and acting chair. The new leadership team includes two new vice chairs, Adina Dumitru and Teis Hansen. They will guide the EEA’s work in providing independent scientific advice and strategic insight.

The committee’s spring meeting also featured a dedicated workshop on industrial transformation and green jobs, bringing together experts from academia, trade unions, think tanks, the European Commission and the EEA. Discussions focused on the evolving green economy and the knowledge needs required to support a just and sustainable transition across Europe.
