László Pintér
László Pintér is Professor and Head of Department at the Department of Environmental
Sciences and Policy at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna, Austria. He is also Senior Fellow and former Director of the Measurement and Assessment program at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in Winnipeg, Canada.
László has been working on sustainable development indicators and strategies,
integrated assessments, sustainability reporting and global outlooks for nearly three
decades, firmly grounded in the belief that a systemic transition and transformation
around the notion of sustainability and resilience is urgently needed. He contributed to
the negotiation of the sustainable development goals and conducts research on downscaling their implementation to the regional and local levels. He also works on vulnerability, adaptation and resilience in socio-ecological systems, including but not limited to climate change, urban transformations through nature-based solutions and the transformative potential of measuring progress. He works worldwide and regularly consults for a wide range of multilateral organizations, companies, NGOs and governments.
Dr. Pintér has a PhD from the University of Minnesota in the United States (2002), a Masters in Natural Resources Management from the University of Manitoba in Canada (1994) and a Master of Science in Agronomy from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (1988).
