RESEARCH PROJECT UN ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME

Project for the UNEP’s Crisis Management Branch: using the DPSIR framework to analyse potential benefits and dangers associated with an expansion of domestic palm oil production in Bougainville, SE Asia (soon to be the world’s newest nation). I was tasked with researching and writing a 6000 word chapter on this topic for a UNEP report that will be used to inform independence negotations between the island of Bougainvlle and Papua New Guinea.

JUNIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE – UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX

Conducted a research project supervised by Dr Izabela Delabre and Dr Kristjan Jespersen which looked into the social, economic and environmental impacts of private sector attempts to reduce deforestation risks associated with their supply chains, particularly in the palm oil sector. Tasks included: formulating a research proposal and securing £2000 of funding from my university; conducting in depth semi-structured interviews with a range of sustainability professionals; literature reviews; frequent presentations of my work to academic audiences; writing an academic journal article (currently in the process of submission).
