Gaëtane is a Belgian environmental jurist and an expert in governance for sustainable development. She studied law at the UCLouvain where she did her thesis on the intrinsic rights of Nature, under the supervision of Olivier De Schutter. Her second Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Science and Policy at the University of Maastricht familiarised her with the Problem-Based Learning method, and provided her a multidisciplinary expertise on decision-making processes related to sustainability (citizen participation processes, interface between science and policy, SDGs, social movements, circular economy, integrated sustainability assessments, etc.).
In addition to her work as a Junior Researcher for PS4SD, she worked at the European Commission (DG ENV) where she was involved in writing Country Reports for the European Semester 2020. She also developed knowledge in EU climate, environmental and agricultural policies.
Finally, Gaëtane has a significant experience in advocacy for Human Rights, sustainable agriculture and food consumption, and climate justice. From September 2020, she will be working for Food & Water Action Europe.
